9-1-1 Change Maker

Although I had something else in mind to share today, it is appropriate for me to tell you my condensed version of 9-1-1.  I call this day 9-1-1- (nine-one-one).  My kids wonder why I don’t call it 9/11 (nine-eleven) like every one else.  I just don’t!  9-1-1 is all I saw splashed across every screen and monitor for about a month as CNN looped this event.

That morning, I took the subway train up to the upper east side of Manhattan from Canarsie, Brooklyn to take my youngest two children to their charter school, Ella Baker.  I then got back on the train going back to downtown Manhattan.  The train arrived at The World Financial Center where I worked at Merrill Lynch.  Before I could get off the train, people poured onto the train covered in a white powder looking and acting real crazy.  They said don’t get off the train!!!  The World Trade Center has been attacked!!!

I stayed on the train.  The train went into downtown Brooklyn and didn’t go any further.  It was actually the last train running before the subway system shut down!

I took a cab to check in with my mom.  We went on the roof of her building where we could seen the smoke billowing from the Twin Towers.  Bits of paper, and who knows what else, were floating across the sky.  That smell! was in the air.  The smell is not something I can describe. It was actually the smell of death!

There was no cell phone service.  I used my mom’s land line to reach out to my husband and to check on my older two children who were not able to contact me on my Blackberry.  I could not reach Ella Baker where I had dropped my youngest children off just hours ago.

I went and got my car, picked up my sister, and we drove back downtown Brooklyn on our way to Manhattan to get my children.  No car traffic was being allowed beyond a certain point so I parked my car.  The only way into Manhattan was to walk across the bridge.  By the time we had gotten across the bridge into China Town, walking through dust, ash, and who knows what, a few trains had started running again.  We got on a very crowded, unsettling train and went uptown and got my kids who were among the last ones to get picked up that day.  I could not make phone contact.  They were safe!

This event was a change maker for me.

Blessed And Stepping Out Into Faith

Long story short, I was spirit-led to relocate here to Huntsville, North Carolina with my four children.  Two were in High School. Two were in elementary school.  I was relatively recently separated from my second husband and was now a single parent.  Two weeks before moving I came to North Carolina with my spiritual family/friends for a week in November to spy out the land, and look around.

I found a beautiful townhouse and signed the lease in a nice rental sub-division.  I found schools and enrolled my children.  I chose the Real Estate Brokerage office I hung my license at once I passed North Carolina’s State exam three months later in February 2002.

I went back home to Brooklyn, New York, packed up my kids, and we moved to North Carolina two weeks later that December in 2001.

I was not relocating because I was running away from, or afraid, of anything. I was running into my new life!

I listened to the call of my spirit, and, thankfully, followed the call.  All the pieces lined up beautifully orchestrated.  And, here we are 21 years later.

When I give you the long version, or the sequel, I can go into more detail about the events leading up to the move itself, and my life after having moved here.

I have had some challenges, but nothing I could not overcome, trusting and believing in myself, and my inner being, which is where God lives, inside of me.  I am, have been, and expect that I will continue to be Blessed Beyond Measure, in all areas of my life.

We are all Blessed Beyond Measure.

I give thanks and praise constantly.  I am grateful, and very appreciative.  And, the Blessings keep flowing into my life.

I do my best to listen to the call of my soul.  And, I do my best to take the aligned action I am called to take.

So yes, 9-1-1 has been a Change Maker for me.

Second Guessing

Second Guessing a decision already made only really serves to remind us that the thing we knew was actually the thing we knew.

Rather, it was the thing we were guided to do.

We start looking at the evidence, what has already unfolded and decide that what we thought was not good enough.

It was the thing we were guided to do!

How could it not be good enough?

Because we have not completely trusted in our Inner Guidance long enough, we feel like we know better.

So we change our mind.

If we allow ourselves to step away, if only for a few moments, what we find out upon our return is what we originally “knew” was the thing we should have trusted in.

“My ways are not your ways” says The Lord.

How could we possibly know what The Most High has planned for our good.

We can only know by trusting in that still, small, voice that is always guiding us.

Forget about trying to figure it out.

Our way.

It is a good thing to learn how to relax into our beneficial relationship with The Creator Of All Things.

The Creator Of All Things.

Beneficial?

Yes.

In all things.

There isn’t anything God does not know about us, our intentions, desires, wants and goals.

God knows the best path to get us to them and guides us in the best direction that will take us there.

We are guided.

We get the idea, the intuition, the path shown to us and we, most times, promptly move in the opposite direction.

Second guessing ourselves.

Thinking, it can’t possibly be that simple. There has got to be more to this.

Allowing ourselves to be guided by our Inner Being is not easy.

It requires trust!

Trust is not the easiest thing to cultivate.

We feel like life has to be hard because we have to figure everything out for ourselves.

The thought that is given to us, the guidance, doesn’t always make sense to us because we are always looking at the evidence right in front of us.

What we forget is that the evidence we are looking at now is yesterday’s old news.

Nothing is ever what it looks like on the surface.

What we see today is a result of yesterday’s thoughts and actions.

What we are looking at today is what has already been done.

Hopefully, they were actions that moved us forward that we can then build on.

Which is actually a good thing.

When what we are looking at today pleases us, we took the right actions and can, and should, confidently take the next right actions.

We, in our brilliance that we are, think we are the ones guiding the ship.

We are.

It’s who, and how, we were created.

We are the master crafters of our lives.

Every thought and every action makes our lives what it is.

But since we are not in this alone, why not trust The Creator Of All Things who told us “My ways are not your ways”?

I know trusting is not easy to do.

We trusted him.

We trusted her.

We trusted that.

Things did not always quite work out.

Trusting in things outside of ourselves rarely work out the way we want them to.

There are too many variables involved.

Things we have no way of controlling.

We do not know what someone else’s motivation is.

Hopefully, it is one of service, that is beneficial for you.

Most times others are looking for some benefit for themselves.

It is a marketing truth 101.

WIIFM.

Translation: What’s In It For Me.

Can you honestly tell me you do not think about what you will get when you are thinking about helping some one out.

We all do it.

If I do this, or say that, then I will get this.

Kind of tainted isn’t it.

Not quite as pure as it could be.

This is not always the case.

Just something to think about when we are looking outside of ourselves to others for help, guidance and to show us the way.

This is especially true when we pay someone for their help and advice.

Most gurus and experts will “give” you just enough to keep you coming back for more, so you can pay them more and more.

It cultivates dependency.

We need them, and what they have to give.

So, as long as we trust in them, we will be guided, and they will have the benefit of being paid for our trust in this outside source.

I speak from experience.

I’ve trusted in many outside sources, and paid handsomely for trusting in them.

Sometimes my expectations were exceeded.

Sometimes.

Not as much!

We must trust ourselves to know what is best for us.

Trusting in ourselves, in our Inner Guidance, is ultimately the place we want to be.

A way to know if we are following Inner Guidance is by noticing how a thought makes us feel.

Does the thought excite you?

It may not make any real sense to you, but it does make you feel good.

It could even scare you a little.

It is normal to be a bit hesitant about going into something new.

A new direction.

A new opportunity.

But you are still excited about the possibilities.

It is likely you are being guided by Your Higher Power.

Inner Guidance Makes You Feel Good. No Second Guessing Required

If the thought causes you to want to pull away, to contract, it may be something you are trying to make happen, at any cost, that will likely take a long time, a lot of work and effort, and may not yield the desired results.

We often do not second guess the hard way of doing something.

We always want to second guess the thoughts that seem easy.

But, does the easy thought make you feel good?

If the thought feels good, just imagine how the manifestation, the result, will make you feel.

Step into the “feel good to me” guidance and see where that takes you.

Step into the ease and flow guidance to experience the good life is offering you.

Stop second guessing Inner Guidance.

No worries though.

We are always being guided.

It is never too late.

Start where you are right now.

The best is always calling you forward.

Pay attention to the call.

You are being guided to it.

Cultivate your personal dance with the Creator to all your desires, intentions, wants and goals.

Just recognize if the thoughts make you feel good.

Even if it feels a bit scary, but still exciting, just hang on for the good ride to the life of your dreams.

Stop second guessing the good stuff!

Resistance

Why is it that when “All Systems Are At Go” we feel the most resistance?

What is it about everything being in it’s place, at the desired jumping off point to the next level, that our old friend “fear” we have already said goodbye to, tiptoes into our space again, showing up as resistance?

It is always the “fear” of the unknown that has the power to stop us in our tracks.

Momentarily.

We know better than to listen to the False Evidence Appearing Real. He/She/it is so compelling.

So familiar.

Very convincing.

Well!

Get over it!

Take. The. Next. Step!

Yes. It can sound easier than it gets to be.

But, that is the point. It does get to be easier than it seems to be in this very moment.

When we look back, it was always easy.

Fear and the mind are best friends. They work together. The mind says, this is too big. I don’t know what to do with this. Fear says, that’s right. You haven’t been here before. You have no idea what you are doing.

Wrong!

You have been at the beginning of a new thing literally thousands of times before. You are always at the beginning of a new thing. New beginnings is what we do. New beginnings is what we are. You’ve been here before.

You know exactly what to do.

Take. The. Next. Step!

Simply take the next step!

That is all you need to do to erase the resistance. That is all that is required to quiet the not serving you in this moment mind. That is all you need to give fear it’s walking papers once again.

Stop.

Center yourself.

Remember that you’ve done this before.

Look at everything you already have lined up at your fingertips ready for you to use, to get to your desired outcome.

Take a deep breath!

Then,

Step all over the resistance as you

Take. The. Next. Step!

Cracked Open

Do you know what cracked open feels like?

I had no idea what that meant.

Granted I have been cracked open a lot of times but had no clue.

I have come to find out that it means feeling what is tender and raw underneath the surface.

It is like literally cracking something, anything open.

You get to see what is inside eating at you. You get to see the raw flesh oozing out. Yes, oozing. Pus-like. Yes. I know it sounds disgusting, but that is what cracked open is all about.

It is getting in touch with those real feelings that stay covered up never seeing the light of day. The thing that is never examined, never let free, festers and becomes putrid.

These are the scary feelings you don’t necessarily pretend aren’t there. You just don’t know how to face them. They are hard to look at even though they are never far from your thoughts.

They drive you to do more.

To keep going even when you can’t keep your eyes open.

They give you the fortitude to never quit when all you want to do is to not do that thing.

What happens when you give in to being cracked open is that you set your self free.

You let those pent up feelings ooze out.

Those sticky, taking their time so you can feel them, scary, fearful thoughts you would not allow the time of day get to take all the time they need to ooze right on up out of you.

Raw and real.

You feel every though in a way you have never ever felt before.

You get to examine every one of them. There is no escape.

CRACKED OPEN!

They hurt. They are in your face and you can’t turn away.

But you know what?

Since you can’t stop the nastiness from flowing what happens next is a cleansing.

There is no more oozing as you come face-to-face with the things you refused to look at. Refused to deal with.

That dark night of the soul falls away and you begin to feel the warmth and the light of for real healing and soothing.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

You just had to look at the monster you thought would stay under the bed.

The monster had feelings that needed to be released, looked at, examined and felt.

Released because you can’t stop it, looked at because it’s time, examined because you have to and felt because you have no choice.

All the stuff you swept under the rug finally gets exposed.

Cracked open, set free, cleaned up, transformed into stuff you needed and can use.

Stuff that sets your heart free.

Stuff that lets you see that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

Stuff that lets you know you are firmly on your path and have always been.

Stuff that lets you know all the things you are doing are the right things.

Cracked open to all that is good, right and true to and for you.

Cracked open to yet another new beginning to all that you are.

Cracked open was hard and painful but opened up into joy and peace.

Allow yourself to spend time with the nigglings that keep tugging at your heart and your thoughts. Take a look at the feelings that keep creeping into your thoughts.

When you don’t they grow into a discomfort you eventually can no longer ignore.

They will confront you up close and personal all up in your face.

Set them free.

Set you free.

Let the sludge, the thickness ooze out so the good, the light and the peace can flow in.

Tenacity

Tenacity.

One word.

Tenacity is the power and the ability to hold on, no matter what!

The dictionary says tenacity is:

  • the quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly; grip.
  • the quality or fact of being very determined; determination.
  • the quality or fact of continuing to exist; persistence.
  • What a wonderful word!

    What a horrible word!

But tenacious is what we are. You. Me. Us. All of us!

We hold on tight to what ever it is we are believing in at any moment in time. Nothing can dissuade us from the thing we have chosen to hold on to.

Hold On Tight! Never Let Go! Be Tenacious

    Nothing.

And it is a good thing.

This is the power of choice.

    And, we are always choosing.

There is absolutely no right, or wrong in this because it is personal.

Personal to you. Personal to me. Personal to each and every one of us.

I cannot make you let go of the thing you are tenaciously holding on to, nor can you make me.

    How powerful is that?

    How powerful you are!

Yes. We can be judged for whatever, and even everything we tenaciously hold on to.

    Judgement doesn’t matter.

When you don’t care about what someone thinks, or says about you, that is true power, and, absolute freedom.

You will not bend, or break, to mold to any outside force.

Hold tight to your beliefs. They serve you in whatever capacity you are needing in this moment.

Tenacity is an awesome ability to develop and strengthen.

The good thing about tenacity, as in all things, is that we will in time come to know if the thing we are fiercely holding on to is worth our time and energy.

As the very wise saying goes – YOU WILL NEVER GET IT DONE, AND, YOU WILL NEVER GET IT WRONG!

This means you will forever grow and evolve.

    So go for it!

Since we can never truly know what is right or wrong with someone else, do what you do with everything you have to give. In other words, be as tenacious as you can be!

Give your everything for that which you believe in because you will never get it done, and, you will never get it wrong!

You will hit the pavement, or, you will soar!

Either way, you will give all you have to give to living your life.

There is no life without something to believe in. Something to fully commit to.

Something to hold as life or death to you.

    Because it is.

You die trying or you die because you did not try.

Own your life, be tenacious, and give it everything you have to give!

Your very life depends on it!

    No judgement.

You are absolutely free to own every belief, every choice, and every decision.

There isn’t any other way, and no one can change it, no matter how hard they try.

Here’s to you, to your tenacity, to holding on to your beliefs, and to being the most powerful, awesome you that you already are!
